General Questions:



• Is Barnes Squared registered as a non-profit company (NPC)?

Yes, we are registered.
NPC registration number: 2019/098846/08.
NOTE: To verify us as a NPC under South African law, please feel free to click on the link: Verify us as a NPC, and use our NPC regastration number(...) or NPC name (Barnes Squared) to confirm the registration of Barnes Squared.

In addition, we have Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status.
PBO number: 930066314.
NOTE: To verify our PBO status, please feel free to click on the link: Verify our PBO status, and use our name Barnes Squared NPC in the search filter block to confirm our status. This allows registered company's to donate to us and claim back from the tax man (There is no donations-tax payable if a donation is made to a PBO).

• Why should I donate to Barnes Squared?

We want to make a real difference in our community, in the South African community and we want you to be apart of it. We allow for an easy and convenient way for you to contribute and get involved even if you lead a busy lifestyle. Donating to us won't break the bank because we ask for a donation that you feel comfortable with, an amount that you could give every month and know that you are making a real difference.

We collaborate with other small non-profits and aid them in the great work that they take on. Small non-profits don't receive enough funding and it is our mission to assist them in the fundraising arena so that they are able to continue the great work they do. With us, you can get involved by volunteering your time and effort, which could have a profound impact on somebody's life. You can email us suggestions for projects you believe will have a positive impact. We are trying to approach people who are not yet donating to a cause or actively/currently trying to make a difference but would like to. We are also involved with multiple projects and don't only address one issue. So donate today and become a part of the Barnes Squared family.

• Where are my donations going?

Your donations are going to a good cause, a cause that can change lives and have a lasting impact. Your donations are being pooled and sent to organisations and foundations that are working hard to have a positive impact. We also have our own initiatives/projects that we have started under the Barnes Squared name. Our projects originate from our board of directors who have identified key aspects that are of concern within the country and feel an erge to persue and address these issues. We therefore distribute the pooled donations depending on the focus and need for the donations.

• How do I get involved?

DONATE! We encourage you to donate on a monthly basis. Go to our donate page and sign up for a recurring donation option. Donate any amount that you feel comfortable with and watch your contributions make a difference. Email us if you would like to get involved with volunteering. Also, please don't hesitate to email us if you would like to share ideas and collaborate.

• How do I change the amount of my recurring donation?

Send us an email with your details (name and surname) and a description of the amount you would like your recurring donations to be. We require your details so that we are able to find you on the system, then we will make the change for you and send you a reply confirming this change.

• How do I stop my recurring donations?

Send us an email requesting us to stop your recurring donations, you will find our email address on our contact page. We have to stop the transactions on our system, and will immediately stop your recurring donations if we receive an email from you requesting this. We attempt to be prompt and will reply to your email with confirmation of a stop to your recurring donations.

• Can I trust Barnes Squared?

Yes, You are welcome to ask any of our partners/collaboration organisations/charities what they think of us and the service we provide. We encourage you to contact them and inquiry. We have chosen to use a donation/contribution platform that encourages secure donation methods for our donors.

• How much of my donated money is being used to make a difference?

We ask for a 10% donation fee. This goes to the platform that handles all our donations and the survice we provide. In addition, we pay the transaction fees specified according to the card processing fee, payment method and the transfer selected. Please see the link (transations fees) for a complete breakdown. A small fee is also used for overheads and running costs.

• How do I request a section 18A tax deductible certificate or receipt?

Send us an email requesting a tax certificate. As an individual, please include your name and surname. As a company, please include the name of your business. We will issue you with a tax certificate for your once-off donation or for each month you have donated depending on the donation structure you have chosen.
Note: Section 18A certificate must be issued during the same financial year of the donation. If not complying then the donation will become a tax-deductible expense for the donor.

• What is the SWIFT code?

The SWIFT code for the Barnes Squared bank account: SBZAZAJJ.

The SWIFT code is also known as the SWIFT ID, SWIFT-BIC or BIC code. It is the unique Bank Identifier Code (BIC) of your bank. It can be found on account statements, but if you are ever in doubt, ask your bank. This is the code used when transferring money between banks and it is necessary when conducting an international wire transfer.




Security Questions:



• Is Barnes Squared PCI-compliant?

Yes, we make use of another platform to handle the transfer of money. The other paltform is PCI-compliant as confirmed by independent security experts. There are a set of requirements designed to ensure that companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment at all times.

• Do you store donor credit card details?

No, the platform that deals with the money being donated does not store your credit card information.

• Do you have firewall security?

Yes. Your data and the whole service application operates securely behind firewalls. This is because we make use of the GivenGain platform for all our money transfers. They are also monitored 24 hours a day by security specialists.
